A special ceremony took place in the dressing room before today’s game with Austria to award three very special caps.

Ice Hockey UK General Secretary Andy French presented the caps with GB General Manager leading the presentation with a speech.

Long-serving Equipment Manager Jason Ellery – known to the hockey world as Taff – was awarded his 175th cap after first working with the GB back in 1996.

He’s since only missed two tournaments in a career that has spanned a remarkable four decades.

Forward Ben Davies, who made his GB debut in the World Championship Division I Group A tournament in Hungary 2013, was presented with his 50th cap.

Davies netted his first goal a year later and, of course, scored one of the biggest goals in GB history when his overtime winner completed the comeback to beat France 4-3 to avoid relegation from the 2019 World Championship in Slovakia.

There was also a special moment for Lucas Brine who was presented with his debut cap.

Brine, who will back-up Ben Bowns today, becomes the 433rd player to represent GB.

The 21-year-old has previously made five appearances for GB U18s in 2019 and two for GB Under-20s in 2022 where he won a bronze medal.
