The Great Britain coaching staff have been confirmed for this year’s Women’s World Championship which gets under way on home ice in Scotland next week.

Sean Alderson, who led GB Under-18 Women to the gold medal and promotion in January, will take interim charge as Head Coach.

Alderson had previously spent three years as Assistant Coach of GB Women and was part of the coaching staff for the gold medal-winning team in Spain in 2022.

Head of Performance, Andrew Partridge, said: “Sean has already had a fantastic season with GB and we look forward to seeing him continuing that success.

“His knowledge of this team and women’s ice hockey in the UK is second-to-none and he’s a good fit to lead the team in Dumfries.”

There are two new Assistant Coaches – Beth Hanrahan and Dave Clancy – for the tournament in Dumfries.

Maryland-born Hanrahan joins the team with an extensive playing and coaching career so far in North America.

Hanrahan has been coaching in the highly-rated NCAA college league since 2018 and is currently Assistant Coach at Brown University

Clancy first linked-up with the GB Women’s Programme as Goaltending Coach in 2019 and was also part of the gold-medal success in 2022.

Partridge added: “We are extremely excited to welcome Beth to the GB team and she brings a great level of hockey experience having worked in some fantastic programmes in the States.

“We look forward to working with her at this year’s World Championship and beyond.

“Dave brings a great knowledge of our players and the team have worked with him for a number of years.

“He is a very passionate coach and popular member of the staff.”

The team met at their hotel in Dumfries last night ahead of training camp getting under way today.

The camp involves two warm-up games on Friday against Italy and Sunday against Kazakhstan. Face-off for both games is 8pm and entrance is free.

This is followed by the six-team Women’s World Championship Division I Group B at the Dumfries Ice Bowl from 9th to 15th April.
