Great Britain captain Robert Dowd becomes the seventh player in history to reach the 100-cap milestone in today’s game against Japan at the World Championship Division I Group A in Romania.

Dowd joins Mark Richardson, Jonathan Phillips, David Phillips, Matthew Myers, Ashley Tait and David Longstaff to hit the century landmark.

The forward made his World Championship debut in the 2009 Division I Group B tournament in Torun, Poland and scored in just his second game – a 5-2 defeat by Italy. GB went on to win the bronze medal that year with wins over Romania, Netherlands and Poland.

Dowd has since won three gold medals and two sliver, as well a playing at the top level of the World Championship four times.

He was presented with a gold 100 cap by Ice Hockey UK General Secretary Andy French in locker room ceremony, which included a speech by GB General Manager Andy Buxton.
