It’s gameday two for Great Britain and a match-up against hosts Romania at the World Championship Division I Group A in Sfântu Gheorghe.

GB beat Ukraine after a dramatic penalty shootout on Sunday to record a 4-3 victory in their opening game of the tournament.

Josh Waller, Brett Perlini and Ben O’Connor scored in regulation-time, while O’Connor and Ben Lake converted their penalty-shots.

Netminder Ben Bowns saved all four penalty attempts by Ukraine.

Romania were beaten 4-1 by Poland with Roberto Gliga on target for the hosts.

Ben Bowns will win his 83rd cap and set a new record in the process.

Bowns will become the most-capped GB netminder of all-time and go one ahead of Stevie Lyle.

The most recent World Championship encounter came at the 2023 tournament in Nottingham as Brett Perlini, Liam Kirk, Jonathan Phillips, Johnny Curran, Sam Ruopp, Evan Mosey and Josh Waller all scored in a 7-0 victory.

The first encounter between the two sides came back in 1931 as GB skated in an 11-0 victory in the World Championship in Krynica in Poland.
