Great Britain get their World Championship Division I Group A campaign under way this afternoon (Sunday) against Ukraine at the Sepsi Arena in Romania.
It’s the first of five games for GB with matches still to come against Japan, Romania, Italy and Poland.
The top two teams will be promoted to the 2026 World Championship in Switzerland.
Team News
Three players will make their debut with Kieran Brown, Joe Hazeldine and Logan Neilson winning their first GB caps.
Netminder Ben Bowns will win his 82nd cap and equal Stevie Lyle for the most appearances made by a GB netminder
Previous Meetings
It’s only the fourth meeting between the two sides since 2009 – with both sides winning twice – and GB’s two victories came in successive years in 2011 and 2012.
In 2011, David Clarke scored twice and there was a goal each for Robert Dowd, Colin Shields and Jonathan Phillips as GB secured a 5-3 victory in Kyiv.
GB won 4-3 in overtime a year later in Ljubljana as Dowd scored a hat-trick, including the winner in the extra period, and Matthew Myers was also on target.
