
Great Britain will based in Zurich in Group A for the IIHF Men’s Ice Hockey World Championship which takes place from 15th to 31st May 2026.
GB will face USA, Switzerland, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Austria and Hungary in the group stages at the 12,000-seater Swiss Life Arena.
Group B – which is being held at the 9,000-seater BCF Arena in Fribourg, consists of Canada, Sweden, Czechia, Denmark, Slovakia, Norway, Slovenia and Italy.
The groups were determined based on the IIHF World Ranking and also took into account the preferences of the Organising Committee.
Over the summer, the IIHF and the Organising Committee, in consultation with key stakeholders, will finalise the tournament schedule.
Christian Hofstetter, General Secretary of the 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Switzerland, said: “My team and I had the honor of attending the 2025 tournament in Stockholm and Herning.
“We were able to gain valuable insights from the experience provided by the 2025 Organising Committee, the IIHF and their partners.
“Now that the groups are set, it truly feels like the 2026 IIHF WM is getting closer and, in line with our slogan, time to shine.”
Tickets are available to buy online via the IIHF website and are being released in stages.
