Great Britain have named their initial roster for the upcoming Women’s Para Ice Hockey World Championships in Australia.

GB will face Australia, Canada, Norway, USA and one further team to be confirmed at the six-team tournament from 24th to 29th November.

Twelve players have already been named on the GB roster with further players to be added ahead of November’s tournament.

The World Championships are taking place at Hunter Ice Skating Stadium in Newcastle, New South Wales.

Teams will be split into two groups of three, with the top two in each group advancing to the semi-finals.

GB will be led by Head Coach Ian Offers who has returned to lead the side at the World Championships.

“It’s an honour to return after a few years away,” said Offers. “I’ve been impressed by how much this team has developed and especially how they performed at last year’s inaugural World Championships in Slovakia.

“The players have raised the standard, the belief is there, and now we have to turn that progress into results. Fourth place last year was a great achievement, but we want to improve on that this year and come home with a medal.

“We’re going to Australia with one clear objective: to improve on last year. We know the level of competition will be tough, but this group has the talent, determination and character to compete.

“These World Championships give us a chance to keep measuring ourselves against not only the new nations but also the top teams in the world.

“Each year the level of competition increases as the sport pushes for a spot at the 2030 Winter Paralympics and we need to keep developing and growing the sport to remain on the Paralympic trajectory.”

USA will travel to Australia as defending champions following following a 7-1 victory over Canada in last year’s final. Norway claimed the bronze meda followed by Great Britain in fourth.
