Great Britain have named their team for the men’s World Championship Division I Group A which gets under way later this month.

GB will face hosts Romania, along with Italy, Japan, Poland and Ukraine, from 27th April to 3rd May.

Matches will take place in the 2,500-seater Sepsi Arena in Sfântu Gheorghe.

Three players are named in a GB World Championship squad for the first time – Kieran Brown, Joe Hazeldine and Logan Neilson.

The six teams will play each other once in a round-robin competition with the two sides being promoted to play in the 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Switzerland.

GB begin the tournament against Ukraine on 27th April before facing hosts Romania the following day.

Japan are the opposition on 30th April followed by Italy on 1st May. Britain play Poland in the final game of the tournament on 3rd May.

In addition to the 23-player squad, Jack Hopkins, Jordan Kelsall and Patrick Larkin join Archie Hazeldine as part of the NextGen Programme.

The programme will offer them an opportunity to be part of the group as they prepare for this year’s World Championship.

Head of Performance for Great Britain, Andy Partridge, said: “Having had two of last year’s NextGen players selected to take part in this year’s World Championship, it shows the importance of supporting our players in their transition into the senior squad.

“We are excited to offer Jack, Jordan, Patrick and Archie an opportunity on this year’s programme, which will further support them on their journey to become full GB internationals.”
