
Great Britain secured the bronze medal on home ice at the Women’s World Championship Division I Group B in Dumfries.
Wins over Kazakhstan (2-0) and Slovenia (8-2), along with a point in an overtime defeat by Korea, saw GB finish on seven points from five matches.
Italy won promotion and the gold medal with Latvia securing silver and second place.
GB were beaten 4-0 by Italy on the final day which meant the Italians went through the entire tournament without conceding a goal.
Nicole Jackson started between the pipes for GB on the night she won her 73rd cap.
Matilde Fantin scored on the powerplay to give Italy a first-period lead (14:58).
Anna Caumo scored twice (32:11 and 35:10) as Italy stretched their advantage to three at the second intermission.
Italy scored the only goal of the third period with Kayla Tutino netting on the powerplay (45:25).
