Great Britain were beaten 4-1 by France this afternoon in a men’s under-18s international at iceSheffield.
It was the second of two meetings between the two sides in as many days, with the games forming part of GB’s preparations for next year’s World Championship Division II Group A in Sosnowiec.
France led 3-0 at the first intermission but GB closed the gap early in the second period on the powerplay as Joe Tomalin jumped onto a rebound to roof the puck into the net (20:30).
The visitors eventually won 4-1 but it was another battling performance against a side who are ranked two divisions higher than GB in the World Championship structure.
GB will face hosts Poland, as well as Croatia, Netherlands, Romania and Serbia, in the six-team World Championship which runs from 17th to 23rd April 2024.
