Great Britain Under-20s Men continued their preparations for this season’s World Championship with a 4-3 defeat by NIHL side Solway Sharks in Dumfries on Friday night.
It was a very useful workout the GB youngsters which went all the way to penalty-shots.
Torran Anderson (08:08) and Emil Oksanen (15:16) gave GB a 2-0 first-period lead.
Mason Alderson closed the gap to one by the second intermission (26:51).
GB captain Owen Bruton made it 3-1 midway through the third session (49:39), before Solway produced a dramatic comeback.
John Dunbar (52:46) and Lewis Young (53:20) scored 34 seconds apart as the game ended 3-3 after regulation-time.
Solway’s Stuart Kerr was credited with the game-winning penalty in the shootout as the hosts claimed a 4-3 victory.
The two sides meet again on Saturday night at Dumfries Ice Bowl (7pm face-off).
