Great Britain were beaten 4-1 by China in their third game at the Under-18 Women’s Division I Group B in Katowice.

Newly-promoted GB produced another battling performance but China, who are in their second successive season in the third tier, showed their experience.

Netminder Evelyn Brown made 38 stops included an outstanding double close-range save to deny Zhang Luoyi in the opening stages of the first period.

Zhang Luoyi scored from the slot to put China ahead (24:20) before GB hit back just 22 seconds later as strong work on the right boards by Evie Tindale set-up Rebecca Voslinsky to drive the net and score (24:42).

China regained the lead in the closing stages of the second period when Yu Xinlu buried a rebound on the doorstep on the powerplay (38:47).

Dai Mi beat the GB defence and went top-shelf for a sweet solo goal (45:04) and Zhou Jiaying reacted first to a loose puck in the crease for China’s fourth (53:48).
