Ice Hockey UK would like to thank Martin Gill and Eric Morton who have stepped down from their positions on the Board after their two-term cycles came to an end.
Martin operated as Finance Director while Eric was Vice-Chair and a Senior Director at IHUK.
The pair joined the Ice Hockey UK on the same day in in 2017, just ahead of the men’s IIHF World Championship Division I Group B on home ice in Belfast.
Both have played vital roles in the daily operations of the National Governing Body and were part of the recent transformation of the structure of the Board.
They were also involved in a the hugely-successful World Championship on home ice in Nottingham in 2023 as GB were promoted in-front of a sold-out Motorpoint Arena.
Ice Hockey UK CEO, Henry Staelens, said: “Martin and Eric have been a crucial part of the governing body for the past eight years.
“These positions are unpaid and are some of the most important roles in running a federation. Both have worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth running of IHUK.
“Ice Hockey UK has been through a period of change in recent years and they’ve enabled a smooth transition.
“Their work in the past eight years has helped put the federation in the strong position it is in today.”
Gill said: “I’m delighted to have had the opportunity to play a part in the positive journey at Ice Hockey UK over the past eight years.
“I look forward to watching GB ice hockey continue to develop in the future. I’d like to thank my fellow directors for their support over my time in the role.”
Morton said: “It has been a great experience and honour being on the board and seeing the progress that has been made.
“It has been rewarding to be a small part of that. I am confident Ice hockey UK will continue to make further improvements in the coming years.”
News on the incoming Vice-Chair and Director (Finance), who will both replace Eric and Martin’s positions, will be announced shortly.
