Great Britain beat Poland 2-1 after penalty-shots in-front a noisy crowd of over 5,000 at the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham.
Backed by passionate support from both sets of fans, GB made it two wins out of two after Friday night’s 3-1 win at Planet Ice Leeds.
GB had the better of the first period with Liam Kirk shooting wide from the left-circle while Ollie Betteridge was denied by David Zabolotny.
Cam Critchlow, Johnny Curran and Ben Lake also went close in quick succession in a frantic first period.
Poland had their chances too including a couple of big goalmouth scrambles and Ben Bowns made a huge stop on Kamil Walega.
Bowns superbly denied Patryk Wronka early in the second period while at the other end, Brett Perlini and Kirk went close on the powerplay.
GB went ahead with the man advantage when Kirk was denied twice in quick succession, but moments later got the puck to Perlini who scored from the left-circle (49:52).
Poland equalised late in the game as Bowns made the first save but Wronka netted on the rebound to take the game to overtime (57:09).
Kirk and Evan Mosey had chances in the extra period and Bowns made an outstanding save to deny Igor Smal.
In the shootout, Bowns saved seven of Poland’s eight attempts and after Ben Lake scored with GB’s first attempt, Cam Critchlow netted the sudden-death penalty-shot winner.
