Ice Hockey UK and the Referee Section are deeply saddened to hear the news that one of our young prospects, Harry Currell, has passed away.
Harry was diagnosed with cancer two-and-a-half years ago and his family have spoken of their pride that he carried on officiating even while undergoing treatment.
All our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at this time.
Colin Davidson, Ice Hockey UK Referee-in-Chief, said: “Harry was well liked, respected and whilst battling his own health issues, always wanted to skate and officiate games.
“He never once complained and always gave 100 per cent effort, inspiring everyone around him.
“We are thankful that we played a small part in helping him participate in one of his true passions.
“The thoughts of everyone connected with the Referee Section are with Harry’s family and friends.”
Rest in Peace, Harry.
