Nicole Jackson and Emma Nichols shared a 21-shot shutout as Great Britain beat Spain 3-0 in their second game at the IIHF Women’s European Cup of Nations in Poland.

It was an impressive performance for GB from start to finish with goals for Louise Adams, Aimee Headland and Ellie Wallace.

Jackson started between the pipes for the second time in as many days and made six saves in the first period.

Nichols replaced Jackson at the start of the second period and GB went ahead when strong work on the boards by Ila Hobbins found Adams, who did superbly to cut in from behind the net and fire past Carolina Moreno (33:49).

It was 2-0 early in the third session when Headland redirected Abbie Sylvester’s shot from the point past Moreno on the powerplay (43:45).

Moments later, Nichols made two huge saves to deny Paula Giménez and Vega Muñoz from point-blank range – two of of 15 stops she made across two periods.

Great Britain put the seal on the game when Headland and Adams fought hard on the boards to free the puck up for Wallace to score from the slot (56:19).

GB play their final match of the tournament tomorrow (Saturday 17th October) against Slovenia.
