GREAT BRITAIN v TURKEY

Great Britain secured the sliver medal at the Under-18 Women’s World Championship with a final-day 9-0 victory over Turkey in Heerenveen.

Ellie Patrick scored a third-period hat-trick as GB’s fourth victory in five matches saw them finish in second place, behind group winners China who are promoted to Division I.

Vivian McGee’s feed from behind the net set-up Lilly Endicott for the game’s opening goal (3:49) and Jess Wooding’s shot from left-point deflected past Ekin Koksal (15:37).

Two goals in 73 seconds gave GB a four-goal first-period lead as Jess Jones superbly fed Tahlia Davidson-Wright (17:04), before Grace Cooper and Alisha Potts combined to set-up Milly Thulbourne (18:17).

Scarlett Richardson replaced Evelyn Brown in the GB net at the start of the second session and GB quickly made it 5-0 when Ellie Patrick pounced first to a loose puck (21:47).

Excellent link-up play between Jess Wooding and Ruby Newlands saw Lydia Lutwyche convert at the backdoor on the powerplay (39:49).

GB scored 59 seconds into period three through Patrick’s neat backhand (40:59) and Newlands buried a rebound for an eighth goal of the afternoon (45:08).

Patrick completed her treble when she cut inside off the right boards (49:28) to put the icing on the cake of sensational victory.
