KOREA 3-2 GREAT BRITAIN

Great Britain were beaten 3-2 by Korea after overtime in their second game at the Women’s World Championship Division I Group B in Dumfries.

GB took a two-goal lead as Ellin Rees scored her first international goal, but Korea hit back to secure their first victory over the tournament.

Ella Howard started between the pipes with Nicole Jackson as back-up.

GB lead by two at first intermission
Katie Marsden set-up Louise Adams to put GB in-front from the top of the left-circle on the powerplay (10:26).

Rees took advantage of a giveaway in the Korea defence and smoothly stepped into the slot to fire past Ahn Sewon (16:38).

Korea cut deficit to one
Lee Sojung scored from close-range on the powerplay (24:38) to close the gap for Korea.

Howard made a number of top-class saves in the second period, including turning away close-range shots from Lee Eunji and Park Jiyoon.

Korea equalise to send game to overtime
Lucy Beal went close on an early third-period GB powerplay, while Jodie Alderson-Smith saw her shot from the left-circle saved.

Korea equalised with under six minutes remaining as Jung Siyun redirected the puck after great work by Lee Sojung when she cut inside from the left (53:37).

Korea secure the extra point
Howard made a good save to deny Jang Hyeonjeong after Korea dominated the opening stages of overtime.

Korea won the game on a four-on-three powerplay when good build-up play found Lee Eunji who pulled a move to beat Howard from close-range (61:24).

GB face Kazakhstan on Saturday
After Friday’s rest day, GB face Kazakhstan in their third game of the tournament on Saturday (20:00 face-off). Tickets are still available online or you can pay on the door.
