Great Britain were beaten 6-2 by Norway in their second game at the Final Olympic Qualifying tournament in Aalborg, Denmark.
Mark Richardson became GB’s all-time leader in appearances as he won his 117th cap and was handed the C by Robert Dowd to become captain for the game.
Ben Bowns got his second start in as many nights with Jackson Whistle as back-up.
Norway lead by two at first intermission
Patrick Thorsen scored twice in just over two first-period minutes to give Norway the lead at the first intermission.
The Danish forward turned the puck in from close-range (7:21) and his mis-hit shot deceived Bowns on the powerplay (9:07).
Bowns made a string of good saves including one with his pad to deny Noah Steen while at the other end, Liam Kirk and Josh Waller shot just wide.
Norway stretch the lead in second period
Thorsen completed his hat-trick with a tip in-front – a play that was challenged by GB for netminder interference but the goal stood (20:35).
Dowd’s shot was saved after a good face-off play on the powerplay, before Cole Shudra and Sam Ruopp went close on the same shift.
Norway scored their fourth through Ken Andre Olimb’s shot from the right-circle and soon after, Whistle replaced Bowns in the GB net.
Whistle made a good low save to deny Emilio Pettersen, but could do nothing about the forward’s one-time shot from the right-circle (36:27).
Waller and Davies score for GB in third period
Nathanael Halbert had two chances on the same shift and Dowd shot just wide from a tight angle.
GB got on the board on the powerplay as Liam Kirk fed Josh Waller who jumped onto the pass and produced a neat close-range finish (45:19).
Ruopp’s shot was saved and Ben Davies bundled in the rebound (52:13), but 20 seconds later Andre Olimb finished-off a well-worked move with a one-timer in the slot for his second of the night (52:33) to complete the scoring.
