Great Britain have made a roster change for January’s U18 Women’s World Championship with netminder Alisha O’Doherty replacing Evelyn Brown who has had to withdraw because of school commitments in North America.

O’Doherty has iced in the UK for Coventry and Nottingham and has also represented England.

She also played for GB in the two-match international series with Spain in Dumfries last month.

The 17-year-old has been playing for Hoosac School in the USA since the 2021-22 season.

Head Coach, Sean Alderson, said: “Unfortunately, Evelyn had to withdraw because of her school commitments with this being the year that she can commit to college hockey to further her career.

“Whilst this decision hasn’t been taken lightly and with much deliberation between Evelyn and the coaching staff, we feel this is the right decision for her at this moment in time.

“It’s very exciting for Alisha to step up into the squad for her first World Championship.”

GB will travel to Riga for the Under-18 Women’s World Championship Division II Group A next month.

The six-team group will run from 20th to 26th January 2025 at the Volvo Sportcenter.

They’ll face hosts Latvia, as well as Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan, Netherlands and New Zealand.
