Great Britain were beaten 6-2 by China in their second game at the U18 Women’s World Championship Division II Group A in Heerenveen.
China, who beat Netherlands 18-0 on the opening day, went ahead through Wang Jinyan’s goal (7:10), but Ruby Newlands quickly equalised with a long-distance shot from the top of the right-circle (9:25).
Chang Yuqi on the powerplay (10:58) and Yu Xinlu (14:42) put China 3-1 ahead, before Emma Lamberton superbly stole the puck left-hand side and cut inside to fire past Peng Yiyi to reduce the the arrears (19:25).
Zhang Jiayue scored the only goal of the second period (35:22) to give China a 4-2 advantage at the intermission.
China made it two wins from two with third-period goals from Zhang Biyang (50:15) and Wang Yifan (58:08).
There are no games in the tournament tomorrow but GB return to action on Thursday against hosts Netherlands.
