Great Britain began their Under-18 Women’s World Championship Division II Group A campaign in Heerenveen with a convincing 4-0 victory over Kazakhstan.
Ruby Newlands scored twice and there were goals for Ellin Rees and Ellie Patick, while netminder Evelyn Brown secured a 15-shot shutout.
GB went ahead inside the first two minutes when Rees pounced to a rebound to bundle the puck past Veronika Ageyeva (1:56).
It was 2-0 soon after as Emma Lamberton superbly cut inside from the right before feeding Newlands to neatly score on her backhand (5:44).
Newlands scored her second under two minutes later on the powerplay when her shot from the left-circle deflected past Ageyeva (8:43).
Brown turned away a long-range effort by Medina Kishekeyeva in period two before stopping Kira Krukholskaya from close-range.
GB killed-off two successive penalties in the third session, including over a minute of five-on-three.
Jess Wooding and Jess Jones combined to set-up Patrick who used the Kazakhstan defence as a screen to score GB’s fourth (52:17).
GB are straight back into action tomorrow as they face China at 16:30 (15:30 UK time).
