Danny Beresford will officiate at the IIHF World Championship in Switzerland in May as part of 12 officials from the UK chosen for a wide range of international tournaments this season by the world’s governing body.
It’s the third time Beresford has officiated at the top level after being part of the 2022 World Championship in Finland and the 2024 World Championship in Sweden and Denmark.
Colin Davidson, IHUK Referee in Chief, said: “To officiate once at the top level is a great achievement, but this is now a third time for Danny and is testament to his hard work, professionalism and consistency.
“Danny is highly regarded in the UK and across the world and fully deserves the recognition of working these top-level tournaments.”
In total, 12 UK officials were appointed by the IIHF for World Championship assignments with officials working across all levels – men, women, under-20s and under-18s – throughout this season.
In addition, Liam Sewell has been selected by the IIHF for a second year in succession to work at the World Championship in the Situation Room and Player Safety.
He previously officiated at the top level of world ice hockey and worked the bronze-medal game in the 2023 World Championship.
The Situation Room will be in direct contact with game officials in both venues for video review decisions.
Davidson added: “Our officials are performing to the highest standards and fully deserve the recognition of being selected for international duty.
“This shows real confidence from the IIHF in our officials and the programme we have in the UK. We are very proud of all of our officials.”
