Ice Hockey UK (IHUK) are pleased to announce that the organisation has achieved compliance with UK Sport’s Code for Sports Governance.
For over 18 months, IHUK have developed and implemented a best-in-class governance system, which ensures appropriate levels of transparency, diversity and inclusion, accountability and integrity.
This has seen a full review of organisational policies, recruitment of nine new Board members and publishing of IHUK’s recent organisational strategy.
This work, which will play a critical role in the health of the sport and future of the game in the UK, has been led by Chief Executive Officer Henry Staelens, with full support from Chair Clifton Wrottesley and the newly-recruited IHUK Board, as well as external Governance Advisor, David Joy.
Henry Staelens, Chief Executive Officer, said: “This is a big moment for IHUK and the sport in general. To be recognised by UK Sport for our governance efforts, which involved a full root-and-branch remodelling, is really pleasing.
“I’d like to thank Clifton and the IHUK Board and all Committees as the amount of work and dedication required has been phenomenal.
“Ice hockey has long deserved a transparent, accountable and fair governing body, so it will bring a level of assurance to those across the game that everything is continuing to move in the right direction.”
Ice Hockey UK would like to place on record its thanks to UK Sport for their support on this journey, as well as everyone across IHUK who played their part in reaching this important milestone.
